Ebay Boat Covers
Submitted by Bucko on Tue, 2017-06-27 10:57
I know this topic has been done before, but these cheap e-bay products seem to change all the time.
Has anyone used the Kaiser brand boat covers like this one:
For $200 odd bucks, its pretty cheap for a cover on a 6.7m boat.
If I could get 2 years out of it, I would be happy.
Anyone got any feedback on these?
Cheers

I got one a year ago and it's still going strong in great conditions although the zip doesn't line up with my deck. It's perfect for what I want it for which is driveway protection from sun, dust and rain but can't be trailered.
Just make sure you cover anything sharp as I've seen a few boats where it's ripped through on anchors, rocket launchers etc.
Take about 5 mins to get off and about 10 to get back on... unless it's windy.

Hi Jack,
So you got this exact one? If so, cheers for the info.
The Ocean South ones sound good but 2 x the price.
Hows the catch bag going, used it much?
Mines had fish in it a couple of times now, works a treat.
I only use it as overflow on the 100L esky though.
Cheers

I wish I had the same one.
I wish I had the same one. I've got the 17-18' Kaiser Jumbo cover exact same but smaller.
Catch bag is going good guns but not as good as the one I swapped with you by the looks of it. Cracking the Hillarys code and getting at least one demersal in it most trips now. Holds ice nicely overnight if I CBF filletting the fish getting back after dark.

Cool, thanks mate.
Might just order one and see.
For $200 bucks can't go too wrong I guess.
Been using tarps on the old boat, but only get 18 months or so out of them, and they are a PITA to put on.
Also, they do rub the paint off pretty good.
Tarps aren't that cheap either.

Hi Mate
I was looking at those last night also and seem good value. I have a 6.5m with a large centre console so hopefully it would fit. After seeing the above comments I might give it a go also. Cheers

I have this exact one also. Im onto my second, my first wasnt this kaiser brand though. I think im into my 2nd year but it might be the 3rd. It has held up well with no tears, it is just starting to let off some fine dust now. Ive even towed with it on, albiet a short distance of about 5-6k's and only reaching 40-50km/h.

I'm 1 year into that exact one and no signs of wear or tear yet. As pointed out above, I modified a pool noodle to fit over my rod rack as that added a stress point to the roof. In less timeframe, the kids trampoline cover has torn itself to pieces in an identical environment.

same same
I Bought one of these off ebay a few months back and it's brilliant, not the Kaiser brand but they all look to be the same. I got a 6.7 mtr for 190 bucks delivered. Fits better than I expected, 100% waterproof and heaps of tie down points. haven't towed with it on but I reckon it would be no problem. Only issue is as stated by Jackfrost, the side zips don't necessarily line up with the bimini/canopy but takes 2 seconds to undo a strap and get on board.

Are these covers genreally a snug fit or rather loose by design. I'm looking at one of these for a Barcrusher 615. Would you go the 19-20 ft or would this be marginally too small or the 21 - 22ft or would this be slightly too big. Only looking for one for home storage.

They have adjustable straps
They have adjustable straps to pull it tight as well as a rope stitched into the seam to pull it tight against the hull so it doesn't flap around.

I use this one - great in the driveway - keeps everything out of the boat i'm on my 2nd one - first one lasted 4 years tore it on the rocket launcher otherwise would probably still be there - compared to 800 for a custom made stacks up well
