End of photobucket
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2017-07-25 11:24
So I receive an email from photobucket today saying they had disabled the feature that lets me post to a 3rd party site like FW'd. They now want me to upgrade to a 500plus plan for $399 per year lol well fark that. I'll just delete all my pics and shut down the account like countless others will I guess. If it was a nominal fee of $20 I'd consider it but I'm sure they're making millions from al the advertising click bait.

Unfortunately it looks like
Unfortunately it looks like it is going to do a whole lot of damage to a whole lot of image heavy forums which is a massive shame. Heaps of forums have used and recommended their members post up using photbucket links. So many informative sites are now not as good as they were.
Very rude of photo bucket, but I guess they are in business to make money.

Have Not
Have not used photobucket for some time now, every time i tried to log in , it would clog up my computer with add's and tracking cookies. Then crash and i would have to try and log in again , now they want me to pay a stupid amount for the same service ,
Bye Bye photobucket, was good in the begining but like all romances , the honeymoon is now over .

There's a lot of pissed off
There's a lot of pissed off people on worldwide Forums. Estimates being made, Worldwide for Photobucket 100 million customers - 15 billion images.
I was reading a couple of comments on other Forums- one of the biggest Forums to be effected is for Stamp Collectors, all there pic's for years are gone! It's made there Forums non existent without pic's.
Some are saying that the days of free photo/pic's hosting sites will be a thing of the past.
And don't pay Photobucket anything, rumours are they won't be in business for much longer!

At the end of the day (and I doubt Adam will like me saying this) it is really up to the websites themselves to update their websites to receive pics.
FW allows you to post pics straight to a new post but not to someone else's post hence relies on another website to host that data.
Certainly Photobucket has pulled a shifty on everyone but also was providing something for free which they are not now.

Wished
Wished it was that simple re photos in threads, this web platform doesnt work for it. Been trying since 2005. The new update i was planning to install this year has it, but it doesnt support 50% of the other functions we need. Talk about damned if you do, damned if you dont. :(

They are big business
They dont do it for a hobby and the losses these tech companies incur and still worth squillions is unreal in my experience big business is always trying to screw someone for a buck and their deep pockets buy em time to do so.
Photobucket today..youtube facebook tomorrow??
This really sux for a few forums i read, as if competing with stalkbook wasn't enough now they either have to plaster pages with clickbait ads or charge subscriptions to cover costs let alone make a buck or 2.
