Evakool 40l fridge/freezer draw feedback

 Hi Gentlemen

I'm looking for some feed back on the evakool 40l fridge freezer draw?

I'm setting up a canopy for my ute and am looking at putting 1 of these in the back to replace my engel fridge.

I want to use it as a freezer more than a fridge and I can find quite a few reviews on them as a fridge but not as a freezer.

Does anyone have one and use it as a freezer and can give some honest feedback on them.

Thanks in advance.

My 39 liter Engel is 22 yrs old, been everywhere in the Ute and weather including 3 trips through the Kimberly and lived up there for a year with it.It's probably done 5000 km just on the gibb when I was fixing dozers along there.Personally I wouldn't buy anything else

fridge draw

Looked at the same but I saw Wild touring on YouTube and fb had a couple of these in his canopy and got rid of them. Sounded like they worked ok as a fridge but no good as a freezer.

Heres the quote from his fb page that put me off getting one

"I had two evakool drawer fridges. One was suppose to be primarily a freezer but it couldn’t hold anywhere near freezing temps so I sold that one fairly early on. The other one I used for a few years as a fridge and it went okay- definitely struggled up north in higher ambient temps though.

I did have the first ones to come out though, I believe they’ve improved them since.

But ultimately the reason I got rid of it in the end was the size, it has a huge footprint for a 40l fridge.

If you can afford it get a national luna, thick insulation so less run time. I use a 40 as a freezer and an 80 as a fridge wouldn't run anything else.
