out for an early morning beach fishing session - and the action is quiet until someone's line starts screaming off and the owner starts running to his rod - only to find a gull has got caught up in his braid.
Take him to Hamelin bya...he cuts his foot up on the rocks.
Take him to Hamelin bay the following year, he bangs his hand up changing a tyre.
Take him to Wagoe, he gets knocked off the reef and ends up in hospital
Take him out to pull cray pots..... he gets stung by a blue bottle
Talking about birds, went out a couple weeks ago and caught one of those albatrosses... man those things go stroppo. BIG beaks too... i tell ya was so close to getting out the pasafier!!
unfortunately all of the incidents that Bodie mentioned earlier are true. I did have those unfortunate accidents but they were all a result of being passoinate about my fishing. What he did fail to mention is that I cut my hadn up badly changing a tyre on HIS boat trailer!! hahaha. The things us deckies do hey.
Not to worry though cos I am fighting fit now and ready to get into some good fishing again. Now all we need is for the weather to come good.
At least when all of those accidents happened, I was certainly not sooking about any of them.
I simply patched up the war wounds and got back to fishing again. That blue bottle was not much fun
though. It stung me on the foot and the pain travelled up my leg an into my groin region. I was
buckeled over in agony with the pain around my aggotts. I had just been to the toilet prior to
getting stung so I had no urine to help calm the bruning.
My nuts felt like they were on fire. The jocks got discarded for the day (shorts back on obviously).
After a few hours and a couple of cold beers the burning seemed to tone down. So a special note
to others out there. If there is a blue bottle on the cray rope, be sure to steer clear of it as much
as possible.
on the sea anchor rope, thank god we had brown vinegar on the boat (also back of the ute) washed rope of sea anchor also with brown vinegar and then he put gloves on for the rest of the fishing trip, Brown vinegar works a treat, no pain, very slight tingling but think it neutralises the sting. Also works on bee stings.
Shit Scano, I thought my brother was touched but Jeez you take the cake mate. Whilst reading Bodie's post I could of pissed on about fifty blue bottle stings. Good to see your a die hard.
When shark fishing [pro]we used cray rope as longline, for 6 weeks of the summer the water turns brown with jellyfish and as the rope comes on board its covered in their stingers. The poor blokes who had to unclip the traces were dressed in head to toe wet weather gear complete with gloves in near 40deg heat

I know how you feel mate.
There are a few boaties on here who would be kidding themselves if they didn't own up to catching the odd flying fish (eater).
I am interested to hear how you did up that way. It seems a shame to go all that way and only catch a fuggin Gull. LOL

You always get a bit of a laugh when you get a crew
out for an early morning beach fishing session - and the action is quiet until someone's line starts screaming off and the owner starts running to his rod - only to find a gull has got caught up in his braid.
