Evinrude dramas
I have an 85 year 70hp evinrude outboard and am having fuel dramas. For example loosing fuel pressure at idle, it just dies in the ass after all the fuel in the lines has been used up wont suck out of the tank but if you pump the fuel bulb tight again it will run no dramas until its used all that fuel again. Don’t have any problems when I’m out cruising around only at idle? Replaced fuel bulb, checked breathers on fuel tanks all ok, checked all fuel lines for leaks none, stripped fuel pump and cleaned diaphragm ok, but there was a bit of grit in there! Cleaned fuel filter and cleaned all plugs. Still playing up could it be low compression in one of the cylinders runs fine when its going it’s not missing at all, or is fuel pump on the way out.

when i was working on my
when i was working on my yamaha and it wouldn't idle.
I pulled apart the carby, a particular screw has a hollow shank with a cross hole across the shank. this was gummed up as it was cleaned the motor idled.
this screw was on opposite side to mixture and idle - and on the upper part of the carby.

I had this
I had this on my 95 Johnson 40hp. Envinrude and Johnson are pretty similar. It was the fuel pump I couldnt see a hole but it kept losing pressure at low revs which is a real pain. I got it fixed by fitting a different aftermarket fuel pump, boat city did it for me I think they specialise in Evinrude/Johnson.
not a real cheap fix but cheaper than a new motor i suppose

Kit
Put a kit in your fuel pump. Sounds like the non return valve isn't sealing properly and at an idle where there is a low flow its not holding enough to keep the engine supplied.

PLUGS
You may find that you need new spark plugs , as your motor is an oil mix motor and possible they have gummed up abit and need cleaning or there worn down and need replacement

Check your pickup in the tank
Check your pickup in the tank if you can, it might be bleeding air. Its happend to me before.

have you checked all fuel
have you checked all fuel lines for pin hole air leaks. one way to check is to remove all lines and test them under pressure submersed in water the same way you do a pushbike tube
