Exmouth 2019

On the 1st of January 2019, Harro, Kane and myself jumped in the car and headed up to Exmouh.

While the wind was coming in hard for the first few days, it eventually let up, letting us head out wide and get into some nice Ruby's.

It was an amazing trip with some great fish caught.

There's no doubt that we will be heading up again soon to do it all over again.

Below is a link which will probably give a better report then I can type haha. It includes everything from chasing Reds, Ruby's, Pelagics and even hunting crabs.

Looks like a sweet trip, great vid too.  How big is your BC? Doing a very similar trip this year in my 560C minus the deep drop. Got me fully inspired now!

Looks like a good trip boys. Exmouth in summer is hot, but so is the fishing.

How did you hook the red bass?

Fri, 2019-01-25 13:08

Surface and on lure? Or bottom fishing? (Looks to be bottom fishing because sea anchor is out)

some cracking fish for sure!!

Cheers for your comment’s guys.

Woody, my Barcrusher is a 670C. It's been a great boat, I’ve definitely put it through its paces. There is plenty of ground around mate and you don’t have to go far to find the fish (Even deep dropping). One of my mates has a 5m centre console and absolutely cleaned up, even landing his first marlin.

Scano, we hooked the Red Bass on a standard paternoster rig, on a new mark we found. I’m sure Harro can attest that they go bloody hard.

Interesting on grey band

We used whiting and couldn't get past the Rubys, but when we used herring for bait, we got grey band (that was July 2018)

Cheers guys, absolutely love

Cheers guys, absolutely love it up there. There is so many options!!!

No Greyband Bodie. We tried a little bit but when we did the drifts were changing direction everytime making it hard to line up the drift, we still got Ruby's off the mark though so not a bad consolation prize haha. We tried another mark and got the thresher, and after that we pulled the pin. Definitely an interesting comment by Eric though regarding bait. We did use a selection thought, blue mack, mullet, skippy and squid (as well as jigs).

Silverfox, there was plenty of goldband  around, they were sounding up everywhere. We had a few drops and grabbed a few for the bag. There were no giants though. I think theres one photo of Kanes first in the video.
