Exmouth
Well im finally back from what was an amazing trip, exmouth did live up to the expectations i had for the place. Landbased side of things we landed plenty thumper Spangleds, plenty of Golden and Gold Spot and a few Queenies, couple of nice estuary cod, all on either soft plastics or poppers or metals and most were realeased except one or two Spangleds. Managed to pop up some thumper GTs landbaseds aswell..fish of ~12-15kg were the ones landed and bigger fish not stopped which managed to bend out 5/0 ST-66s.
On the bouttime rig we chased billies and managed 4 fish up to 1pm on one day, we had a double hook up on ~50-60kg blacks and the other fish were around the 40kg mark, even managed ~40kg fish on 8kg line which was a hoot! Driftbaiting and jigging in 20m of water was amazing aswell catching countless rankins averaging ~4kgs, chinaman, robo sea bream, long-nose emperor, spangled emperor, goldband, dark-tailed sea perch, coral trout, lost some thumper reds. Were going to pop the islands that day but ran out of time, Steve n Kasey managed to go back the next day and pop some big fish 30kg+
We spun up long-tails on 10lb in the Gulf on metals which was fun, the mackys were a bit quite only hooking the one and loosing it (tought me not to run light gear for them and can't set the hooks)!
Caught up with Adam a couple of times, fished with Kasey and Steve (bouttime) most of the time, caught up with Jeff (deepwater) and of course can't forget the boys at Lighthouse chezza (Troy), holth (Paul) and Shane, geez those boys are a laugh..good to hit the burbon with after a hard days fishing!
All in all, was an amazing trip and won't be long till im back up there!
Cheers,
Sam
