exmouth advice!!

Hi all, New to the site, however been a regular guest for bit of time now, I fish out of point peron so will probably bump into a few of you hopefully in the coming future.
I am chasing a little advice heading up to exmouth shortly and looking at trying to get onto some reds, and trout. Headed up last year without much success, seemed every local we spoke to had a different idea of where to head.
I understand no one will give you exact locations thats fair enough, however a general idea would be much appreciated.
Kind Regards
jay

Head out the islands and find an edge 50-80m and drift look for the bottom flairs or schools of fish, that seems to be where most people go.. good luck

can depend on numerous variables
welcome to the site first.
most fish shallow for reds during the "winter" and then deeper in the "summer"
the 60metre line is a good start for the reds. so much ground but the three access points are the marina, bundi and tandi ramps; Tandi as you probably know is off the west coast. mobs head out to the murion islands but need a good boat and weather. further is peak island which produces great fishing. from my experience most reds come off the west coast or out the island, the gulf doesn't have the depth of water.
tandi offers good access to deep water close. once again use the chartplotter to look for ground as Paul says look for good dropoffs. but mates have caught plenty of reds in 20m on gravel sometimes.
trout can be found in a range of habitats. have caught heaps in 20 metres and less. look for coral ground on either side on the reef on the west coast and the lumps/shoals in the gulf. one good spot is out from Kalis in the gulf, only a couple of km's. got plenty of trout north of tandi in 20-30m just cruise around and look for ground while you troll.
the locals on this site will provide valuable info so look out for them.
what gear you running? if a member is new I look at their profile so I can streamline my answers. good idea to fill it in, easy to do, and can save time answering/gathering information.
plenty of ground so get out and look

my first few trips I trolled a fair bit
I was new to Exi myself
catch plenty of fish and enables you to explore ground.
I only had a busted arse black and white sounder but manged to locate good structure. best thing about Exi is the multitude of options.
if you post what dates you are going there may well be other members up there also. your gear is quality so no problems there just service the drag washers...ha ha
remember if you fish the inside of the reef be concious of the santuary zones.
good luck and keep us posted
