just wondering if we are any closer to getting a date sorted out for next years exxy comp,as i will need to start organising my hols with work and if there is a lot of fishos going we will have to start looking for a group booking for accomodation ,if its outside of school hols shouldnt be too hard but you never know . i think we would be better to stay in one area rather than spread all over the park ,wichever one it is

Based on Adams post above Russ Id say its going to be the first weekend in May so it doesnt conflict with GAMEX.
Apart from booking holidays and accommodation most other details can be sorted nearer the date.
Its hard enough organising a few people locally with dates for something like this let alone travelling up to Exmouth. With Adam having set the date its more a matter of seeing how many people actually book and then go from there.

The competition will definately be the first weekend of May, so book your holiday's either before or after that date.
Details of how the comp will be run will be posted at a later date, but it won't be for sheep stations and it will be even based on pelagic/bottom bouncing.

I am not to sure but i was under the understanding that we were all going to stay at a caravan park all together but that was when it first come up not to sure now . we are taking our van up but can not book anyway till the 1st november cause they are not taking booking then but was told they never get fully booked then anyway except for the unit/chalets

What park are you staying at Russ? Same as this year? How bout you post it so others will know your location if they want to get in that park or get a house or whatever.
The comp will DEFINATELY be the first weekend in MAY 09.
I will definately be here next year so bring it on. I think its probably best that everyone sorts out there own accomodation because otherwise things could get messy and the last thing I want is anyone to be blamed for someone else's holiday not working as they'd hoped.
I will of course, hold a coupla pissups at my place over that weekend, or the days before or after for general meet and greets. Wild turkey could possibly buy you a few locations.... ;)

we will be staying at park listed below.cant book until 1st november ,cabbin/challet books out verry quick but tent and van sites should be ok that time of year (done our homework
) we have a van ,we may have room to fit a couple in our annex.if you are going sort out accomodation soon so you dont miss out .there is a couple of other places to stay just look up exmouth accomodation on the net.

Ok, we are starting to get this comp moving. So far we are going to have 3 sections, billfish catch and release, best photo and best demersal. (more to come)
Looks like we may have our first sponsor onboard which will mean around $500 for the winner of each of those categories. Only catch is this sponsor wants us to have shirts for this event with his logo on it. (It's not 100% confirmed but hopefully should be a goer)
We will also be looking at getting other sponsors onboard and making a solid prize pool. We may also look at a $10 entry fee for the comp, all of which will go back into prizes or getting a tackle store to match the money raised in vouchers for random prizes etc.
Any ideas for the comp are also welcome. Even if you can't book accomodation yet, just get that time off work and come up and have a phat time!

I will be taking a boat (4.45m tinnie) and will probably have a spot for deckie.
Deckie note: Never fished Exmouth before and will have no idea where to go or what a marlin/ sail looks like :) so bottom bashing it will be and dont expect to be on the winning boat.
Deckie will need to make own way to and from Exmouth as I will spend the next 2-3 weeks relaxing in a bay somewhere between Exmouth and Coral Bay.

Another absolutely sensational day up here today (4 in a row), mirror conditions! (Very unusual for August) Found some sick trout ground this arvo, oh yes, no monsters, all 45-50cm fish thou. Perfect barbi size.
Also found 4 mantas close to the marina but no cobes, the bait balls are starting to mass up again, the fishing is finally starting to warm up. SUMMERS COMING.... OOOOOH YES!

Well ive book in at the Yardie caravan park, from the 26th April to the 9th of May. there is a lot of accomadation allready booked, so i wouldn't leave it to long.I have decided to stay west side as most of my fishing is done out from Tandibidi . The Fishwrecked comp is on the 2nd and 3rd of May this is the first weekend in May so i'll get a bit of a warm up before the day, BRING IT ON

Spoke to ya missus and she said you havent touched the water in a while either mate. I know where ya live now so theres no excuse either! I'm outa town the next coupla weeks but gotta catch up for either a beer of a fish. Lock the comp dates in mate, it will be on!!!

we are staying at the lighthouse we will have one kid with us bunglow no 6 and there will be another father & son in no 7 . Might be able to get you both out one day on our boat if no2 son does not make it .
