Exmouth Help
Submitted by 6157 on Mon, 2013-09-16 13:20
Hey Guys,
Me and three mates are heading up to Exmouth in 2 weeks for a fishing/ spearfishing trip. We are taking a boat. I was just after any advice on where to fish and what we can expect at that time of the year. Im not after spots just a general guide in the right direction.
Are there any places that are protected when it gets windy?
I will post the report when i get home and hopefully there are lots of pictures.
Pete

Hi Pete,
If you need help on what and where when in Exmouth feel free to come past the shop and we can give you a good run down on it. We all fish up there atleast once or twice a year so more than happy to help.
There is alot to know and probably too much to list on here.

Well you wont catch Ryan atm,
Well you wont catch Ryan atm, he got up here today, said gday and gave us a few pointers, he was more than happy to help, cheers Ryan, much appreciated. As for weather, well its nice but getn a bit windy some days, today was superb, there will be the drop offs midday when the wind swings from SE to SW, hut were headin to the windiest time of the year. Few local spearos got a few trout swimmin out from town beach today, easiest way to catch trout. Spotted a few sailies out behind the reef north of the tantas passage today, I had no luck pullin some skirts, or trolling hardbodies for other pelagics. Few lil tuna jumpin, plenty of humpies putin on a show. I gave a shot at the spangos inside the reef for a bit but no luck, only a few spanish flags on placcies made it back for dinner. Trolled up a few lil trevs around the bombies on the south edge of the passage. I reckon any easily accessed areas are hit pretty hard, gota go a bit further I reckon to get a few, head out to the islands for a few days. Im guna try the pearl fads north of the marina again with bait this time for the lil macks and cod I spotted on me drop down cam when I went to find them. Hopefully you get enough boatable days to get a feel for the place, man when its nice like today, the water out on the west side is magic, so clear. So much free divin to be had all down the westside, youd do ok on trout bluebone and spangos I reckon with the straght hook. Theres always somewhere to fish in exxy what ever the weather im learnin. When it blowin hard, just head down to wapet creek for jacks or the bay of rest im told fishes well landbased and a few.muddies.on low tide. Theres other good.landbased options, takes.a bit to.learn this joint after a few trips youd have it sussed
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.
