Exmouth October
Submitted by Wannafish on Tue, 2014-10-07 20:21
Hi all, at 2am this morning we arrived home from 10 great days camping in Exmouth. We drove a 1983 60 series up there and towed our 5m 1982 quintrex centre console. The first day we got out behind the reef at tantabiddi, but the Sharks were too quick. The rest of the trip was spent diving down the bottom of the gulf while the southerly blew... I have attached a few photos of the results...

Yeah, there are plenty of options - especially in smaller boats... That Trout was 70cm, and there was a fatter one with it... Next time...

Not bad fish
Not bad fish but that is an AWSOME car. Best cars ever made. Driving that to exmouth would have made the trip awsome enough and then to get those fish as well!!! Nice work.
Cant fish from home...

Thanks Braxi! I bought it
Thanks Braxi! I bought it unlicensed for $500 to use as a beach hack - but I had trouble with my 100 series factory turbo, so decided to get it licensed as a back-up car. Only 2 days before we headed off I still wasn't sure if I should try to tow the boat up there with it... Now for a total of $2500 for the 60, I am selling the 100 series and keeping the 60!!! It used less diesel, has more useable room, I don't care if the kids get in it covered in mud, I see a heap more of the countryside due to it being so slow, and I love driving the old tractor!!!! Getting there, and the fish were certainly a bonus!!

60 Series
Without doubt one of the most bulletproof cruisers 2 come from toyota. Love the way the back seat folds up 2 give max room in the back, unlike the way in 80 series onwards.

No duct tape Hutch - about
No duct tape Hutch - about 10 yrs ago I decided to sand the hull back to aluminium to get rid of the mission brown colour. That section on the bow is as far as I got with the sanding before deciding it was too hard......

Thanks Goatch, the Jack was
Thanks Goatch, the Jack was 50cm - there were a few around but very flighty as usual... I got another one a bit smaller. Each day was a similar catch of 1 or 2 trout, a couple of cod (could have shot heaps of them), a couple of Tuskies, and a Jack (between 2 of us). There were a few squid around too which the kids enjoyed catching... Saw a big Tiger too - in chest deep water, but luckily from the boat. I spent the rest of that day looking over my shoulder....
