Extra shade from a T top bimini
Submitted by Goin_Fushin. on Thu, 2014-01-09 16:11
I have lost my freedom and now the grommets want to come fishing too.
The t top gives a bit of shade but I want to add more so the kids don't get toasted.
Any ideas on how to achieve this with something that can be installed and removed easily and doesn't hinder deck/fishing space?
My boat is 5m, flat floor, basically all open, low rails back and front, centre console and T top bimini of course.
Any ideas greatly appreciated..

Awning
We put two of the 4WD style awnings on a 5.65 CC and they are really good.
You can get them in a 2m wide version now fron Rhino.

Oh MandurahMatt you make me laugh, I would never give up the centre console. I had a cuddy cabin before and hated it. The centre console is just so much better for fishing and diving. A few minor storage problems in the start but all sorted now. Got a bag on order that hangs under the T top to store the life jackets giving heaps more room.
Maximracer did you use the roll out flat type or the batwing swing out one.
How did they handle the salt corrosion problems?

Roll out
We have two of the roll out ones one facing each way mounted to a stainless targa.
All the frame and poles are aluminium and all bolts and fasteners are stainless so all good.
I can't get pics up on here if you PM me your mobile number i'll send you a pic or i live in Secret Harbour so your welcome to have a look.

Saw a boat at rotto
At christmas with one he had made a frame out of PVC pipe that went into the rear rod holders and he just slung a cheap tarp over it and tied it to the bimini and the rear of the boat. Cheap to make worked well and easy to fold up.

Thanks to everyone for your
Thanks to everyone for your help. Might add an extra couple of rod holders and go with the PVC pipe idea. Sounds cheap and easy to remove when not needed.
Thanks again
Steve.
