FAD coordinates

Hi

Been doing well inshore on small tuna as of late.

Looking to hit the FADs up tomorrow morning with the break in the weather - does anyone know the current coordinates and which ones are holding fish? (PM if you like)

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Alex

 Hi Alex

Please be aware the Fremantle Sailing Club FAD is not currently in position.

Contact PGFC: and you can get a laminated map with the current locations for $20 !! Cheap!

Better still why not join up. Its a great club

Surprising that nobody could help me out with the coordinates.

We headed out yesterday to the Hillarys Yacht club FAD. Nothing on it at all. Mate got in and had a look around, not a fish in sight! Didn't stay long as the weather was pretty average.

Managed a couple SBT and a YTK in close to rotto.

Got some YFT and bonito out of Mindarie on Saturday just been. So the Pelagics are around, but haven't been scoring them in huge numbers.

Cray post are an absolute nightmare! Everyone whinges about them going missing etc. What about every inshore reef being absolutely covered in them? making inshore trolling VERY difficult! Some peanuts also feel like its appropriate to have an extra 20-30m of rope on them in 7m of water!

Couldn't agree more about the craypots. Bloody nightmare trying to navigate around and oh yes just love those stupid lengths of line left floating.

Cray season should be renamed

Cray season should be renamed pitch fork season.

I'm guessing a lot of these 'stolen' pots are ones that get their ridiculously long ropes wrapped around peoples outboards and are chopped trying to get their props/legs free. I have not done this to anyone - as I have never hit one. But they are a nightmare, Mindarie and Hillarys are the worst offenders. Some of the ones out of Hillarys are 2 seconds out from the ramp. I understand their may be Crays there, but it is such a high traffic area. Use your head people.

Even worse are the ones that appear 2m out from the moles, locking people out from such a great land based area! If you have a boat be more inventive than dumping them at north mole. Not everyone has a boat to fish from, it is just so selfish. Not to mention you run the risk of pulling your pots with ropes covered in hooks and lures posing a safety hazard.

I also saw a couple of pots that had the reverse out near the north end of rottnest not enough rope - the floats were sitting about 1m under the water, another great hazard for water users.
