FAD Use

Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone.

A quick note that now the FAD's have been deployed for the current season and people have started venturing out, PGFC is already recieving some information back about the incorrect use of the FAD's.

We would like everyone to be aware not tie a boat up to a FAD, the mooring gear attached is only designed to secure the FAD float and line only.

The FAD's themselves only weigh around 50kg and that is why a few tonne of boat attached can easily overload the ground tackle and cause failures/losses.

A code of conduct has been developed for the use of the FAD's and we would encourage everyone to read this. It can be found at the following link - http://www.pgfc.com.au/fads/code-of-conduct/

The cost of deploying and/or replacing FAD's is significant and we would like to ensure that they are there for the majority to use and not have it spoilt by the minority.

We would ask that if anyone sees anyone tampering or tying up to the FAD to please let us know at this email contact@pgfc.com.au to allow us to best monitor the scale of innapropriate use of the FAD's.

Thankyou to all and again from PGFC have a Safe and Happy Holiday.

I saw the photo of the guys tied off on the FAD on your facebook page. I can not believe how stupid some people are and that they would so blatently disregard the rules and risk losing the FAD.

POOR FORM BOYS.

Does anyone know who they are? Name and Shame?

Thanks for the link PGFC it is worth a read, i will send you photos of anyone i see tying up..... hopefully there will not be anyone else!

Cheers

Very strange, and can't figure out WHY would someone would want to tie into a FAD while fishing Dollies!! Above all, make him look stupid and can't read plain English .... "NO MOORING"

As mentioned ... no wonder why the Club would lose a couple of FADs within a season.

Is it confirmed that Hillarys is missing ????

It went last year as well. If it has gone is it likely to be replaced ?

Stolen?

Wed, 2012-12-19 07:20

Does anyone think the fad could have been stolen? Someone gets themself a great bruce anchor and a heap of chain and rope? Not sure of the logistics of that, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Im not exactly sure of the department but i know all AIS tracks are recorded. In a recent incident a nav aid was struck and the vessel responsable was notified and billed. Applys for commercials only.
