How long do they take to start attracting stuff? I know the dollie fishing wont be great until next year to wait for them to get there and fatten up a bit (and even better by the end of the season), but what about tuna or billfish? I had heard somewhere that for billfish, the FAD's were more so to give you a rough area to start fishing. Not sure on the veracity.
Also, i've heard of the occasional, and probably rare wahoo being caught of the FAD's. Anyone ever heard of/seen one?
Ah, I see your logic. If you take me, I can guarantee you'll catch a few fish, but only if i'm trying really hard continuously with multiple rods, lol.
Get all the pelagics out there Matt, can get them around the fads, but generally wider to the shelf to get into the solid fish. Generally big boats, big fuel range and big wallets!! (or you just drive north with your tinny and put more fuel in the car than boat and get yourself one... :)
Heard of the wahoo, but just wasnt sure how common, or if the wahoo or marlin are close to the FAD's, or the FAD's are just in roughly the same patch of ocean.
Might have to get me a boat and drive up to exmouth or similar. I'd fly but I dont think renting a boat up there is all that easy .
Ok the FADs are all in place where they should be. No sign of life around them yet, not even small fish seeking shelter. All the lines still clean and no paint work damage to any of them yet!
Think they need another few weeks before anything shows up.

I might go tomorrow to to have a look see. And to ensure that the fish will be around, I won't bring a rod.

Why no rod? You'd be kicking yourself if you saw some fish.
