Farewell Darren Glass
Submitted by Dale on Thu, 2014-06-12 10:51
Well I could say something like he is jumping from a sinking ship, but I won't. He is a West Coast great player, very good career but the injuries were to much, good luck going forward.
Cheers
Dale

Legend
Glassy personnified class and professionalism on and off the field.
I cant ever recall him getting demonstrative towards an umpire even when he had just been reemed with a decision.
Led the club out of the dark times. I dont think he is jumping a sinking ship...just putting the team first as he always has.
Future hall of famer. WCE have been spoiled having a series of absolute champion full backs in Brennan, MacIntosh and Glass....and with McKenzie I reckon we have a 4th in the making.
Coxy, do the honorable thing and follow suit. Father time is knocking.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

I’m sure if they were on top
I’m sure if they were on top of the ladder he would soldier on through the adversity .. he’s the captain and their best defender . I just hope for the club’s sake the sponsors and members don’t throw the towel in mid season as well .

Good on Glassy, he had a great career at WC and was a good leader. Would have liked to see him playing a farewell match, but I guess he's done the right thing. No point playing if u cant give it ur all and denying a youngster a spot in the team.

dirty sneaky prick he was, should have been rubbed out more than transpired. i'll give it to him he was a good captian when he was on the field and not suspended or injured.

Roughy kicks 8, Glass retires LOOOOOOLLLLL!
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Oh dear
Always thought with Glassy in we would win, with him out worried about the defense.
All Australian how many time. A great leader and defender.
WILL be missed.

suitable replacement
apparently there is no suitable replacement, good succession planing there and a bit of a shot at the team if there isnt a leader amongst them. what about the million dollar man? oh thats right he is a confidence player by his own admission

Ok, time to start.
They'll need a new craptain now, I bet they give it Nic Not a Newy. They were going to give to Selwood but he ducked it.
Cheers

Rebuild
No fan of WC but Coxy and Waters need to follow Glass and put the club first.

Well done on a great career.
Well done on a great career. He is a great player, a great leader, and a gentleman. Loved watching his battles with pav, knowing that pav was in for a hard day at the office when glassy ran to him.
I hope the afl recognize his true standing at the club and in the league and put him in the hall of fame before they even think about cousins getting in there. Glassy deserves it far more.

truly selfless clubman
Stoodup when no one else would after cousins dragged club into the mire.
All aussie 4 Times and capt the last time. Not many key defenders have had that honour not to mention being outside the "victorian club".
Loved by his friends but greatly respected by his opponents.
Take whatever cheap shots you feel necessary for whatever you get out of it but champions of our game should be heartily applauded no matter what colours they wear.
This guy is a template for the ideal afl footballer and rolemodel. If only all clubs had more of his calibre instead of the drug taking losers that piss privilege and great opportunity up against the wall.
All the best Glassy!
Glad to say you proved me wrong all those years ago.

He is, and will always be a champion of the game. He us one of those players that purely contests his opponent or the ball and nothing else. And then just moves onto the next contest without complaint. A great footballer.
