Hope you all enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them and i will try and keep them short ha ha
Russell, Sandy & Boys
PART 1
We thought we would go for a drive and try our hand at land base fishing found some long toms I managed to foul hook one and when Sandy went to get some water into the bucket she fell in *lol* as a small wave got her what a sight she told me to get my own water *lol* No luck tho one thing we found out we had a lot to learn about land base fishing
Went up to the light house what a great view the wind was up still
Sunday We had fun four wheel driving on the mud flats trying to find a place to get dinner e.g. muddies ha ha found our way to the mouth of wapet creek no luck tried fishing no luck either so along the beach we went then found Learmonth Jetty there were kids catching nice size bream so we thought we would try our hand but no luck for us it was back to camp for baked beans on toast for dinner . Monday We met up with Adam and got our fish wrecked shirts . He told us about a few spot to try for land base fish so off we went, found this bay got all the gear and off we went was not that far but we sure need to learn how to pack light *lol* you would have thought we were going for a week .Brenden got the first fish after about 30 mins a really big NOT Chinaman cod *lol* Released
Sandy was next with a small GT but still put up a good fight
Then Sandy caught a small ockie good for bait but it came off in the rocks so Russell to the rescue into the rocks waves smashing around him up he came with it *lol* Then it was Nathans turn a rip snorter of a Golden travelley it gave him a good work out up and down the rock he ran then in the waves breaking he got his first glimpse Russell had to take over to get it in from the rocks one mighty pull and up came the hooks only shit where is the fish ????? when the water receded there flapping from the rocks was a large silver tail so in goes Russell again to the rescue waves pounding on the rocks as the tide was coming in fast up to his knees in water he emerged with his arms wrapped around this large fish and only one thong *lol* but one very happy young man with his 90 cm 8 kg aprox fish
With nothing big enough to fit it this is how it got back had to bury the bucket to stop it tipping over *lol*
Decided to start taking everything back when Sandy decided to give it one last cast And this is what she got
A 66 cm spangled emperor what a last cast
Back at the car we decided to get the fish on ice and go for a snorkel at the oyster stacks What a wonderland can I go again dad can I can I Sandy yelled *lol* pics in another forumGot so many not to great shot and some really good one one thing Russell learnt is to make sure the camera is on underwater shot not normal*lol* but they came out really well despite it not being on the right setting (lesson learnt for next time) Came back to camp and had a nice feed of fresh fish & chip Tuesday wind still up for down to bay of rest to try for the muddies again really good four wheel tracks but no where to put in the pots found our way back to the beach and along it we go came across these oyster beds fresh oysters for lunch yummy and a few to take home for tea .
Tried for a few fish nothing
So along the beach we go heading to no where we kept driving hoping that if we had to come back this way the tide was not to high . what great views people camping on the beach side about 4 families by the looks . Past them we ventured aleast we new there were other people out there ha ha . up onto dry land again following tracks into the unknown when we found another beach so up we ventured shame we did not bring our beach rods some neat spots along this beach then we came around another corner and lord behold more people fishing in a creek yeah it was wapet creek again but the other side which we could not get to the other day so we found a nice spot covered ourselves with the spray Colin had given us (worked a treat thanks again Colin) set up the crab nets and had some lunch the kids tried there hand at fishing with lures and plastics but again nothing.
Some guys came along in there dinghy and retrieved a pot that was just out front of us and yeah they got a nice big muddies laughed and said not your lucky day to us *pout*WANKER*LOL*
They only had three crab and had been at it for two hours Our turn then came with our first muddy then Nathan looked down and sore a large muddy just in a front of him so we tried to get it with the landing net under the rocks it went so Russell set a pot just in front of the ledge in about three feet of water and we waited and waited then out he came the smell on neck chops was to much for this large muddy to ignore right into our trap he he crab number two dinner was looking great fresh rock oysters and muddies what more did one want for up came the pot and yes there was number three muddy
Now the only question was how do we get home back up the beach or unknown tracks a toss of a coin and it was up the unknown track which lead us to the main road not a dead end *lol* Just one other stop off on the way home that is at the prawn shop for some fresh tiger prawn to go with our seafood buffet dinner.By the time we got back to base and heated the water the biggest muddy has decided he did not like being in with the other and had ripped off all their claws ha ha still tasted great .

Hope fully fisheries will not be pulling up to many boats coming home next year *lol* they love the stickers that sandy made up for putting on the fish bags in the freezer even showed other fishieres officers saved us unpacking our load which would have ment 1 hour extra he said .

How were those oysters Russ?
How were those oysters Russ? Good to eat?
Any idea what species they would be Ads? I'm guessing its the same type growing at the 'oysters'.

Crassostrea
Think they are crassostrea's, but not exactly sure. Not your typical oyster as they are relatively small, but very fleshy and sweet (well, for oysters). I'm not a huge fan of natural and I haven't been bothered smashing them off for kilpatrick. Just glad Russ left my occy supply alone. ;)
