First boat

I'm on the verge of going halfs in a first boat with a friend. Just wondering has anyone any info on the CARIBBEAN BARON 18ft type boats? The hull is 1986 and is in exceptional condition and the outboard is a Mercury 2 stroke 135hp year 1995 with which we plan to get rebuilt for a quoted price of $2000.
Any info would be really appreciated on the type of boat, engine and quoted price for the rebuild.

Baron were a bench mark
Before I bought my boat these were the boats I was looking at. All the reports I read on them rated them very highly. I guess it depends what you want to do and your budget. As for the motor , it might pay to look for a secondhand four stroke. The 135 should be ample for that boat, just that 2 strokes are thirsty and the oil is not cheap either, but they are cheaper to service.

Why are you planning to
Why are you planning to rebuild the Mercury? $2000 rebuild cost may be better off spent on a used 4 stroke or DI if that engine is dying. My 150hp Mercury 2 stroke has 490 hours on it and runs like a dream.
