Fish are active deeper this time of year

I went fishing this week out in 50 to 60 meters of water off bunno and had a ball the fis were in a frenzy we caught plenty of dhuies, blackass, pinkies, nanigi, and even a nice baldy. I noticed that it was the same time last year i had very similer action and on both occacions we released severall good sized fish after getting quata. i will upload some photos when i get my cam back but just thought id give some food for thought for keen deep fishers .here is one from last year

fair call paul but the dhuies ireleased were smaller therfor i brought them up slower and they seemed to go back well and i guess if i got anouther one that big that wouldnt go back i would have to keep it.to put your mind at rest i have released many dhu back at that depth with no problem. i have also tagged dhuies for fisheries at smiler depths and caught the same tagged fish so it shows if treated corectly they can servive

its nice to get a feed and feels really good when you release and then catch them next year. We mainly fish in Leeman about 4x4 times a year and yes its a good depth for us up there, mainly in the 40's to 90's (bank) can't wait till we go up middle of September, bring it on, boats serviced. gear sorted, meat sitting in the freezer, come on.

Agreed with Paul,

I woudl have asked the question too, and to your credit dinger, well answered!!! good to see people on both sides of the fence can ask a question politely and get an polite answer in regards to releasing fish.

cracking dhu by the way, and yeah fish are more active i think anyway because the water is alot more stirred up, creating more food int he water for bigger preditors to eat!
