Good old pikey bream, go hard
Good old pikey bream, go hard for their size and are usually found in plentiful numbers and are great tasting fresh and simply cooked if you have lucked out on the more desirable species.

Northwest Black Bream
The correct taxonomy seems to be Northwest Black Bream, (Acanthopagrus palmaris), and is referred to locally in the NW as pikey bream.
The true Pikey Bream, (Acanthopagrus pacificus) is similar but has a range from Darwin to mid-QLD, and lacks the deep notch above eyes to the nape.
Plenty of big buggers in the mangroves around Finucane.
