Very close Twig, but this is an Australian Tilefish Branchiostegus australiensis. Pink Tilefish (B. wardi) is an east coast species and doesn't have the golden arc from under the eye to the upper lip. Unfortunately, you won't find this species illustrated in any field guides - that's why you need some resident fish nerd to help sometimes. I only know of 2 specimens from WA - the first one ever discovered, from Shark Bay (which we have in our collection and was used to describe as a new species in 1988) and another from off Ningaloo (in a collection stored by CSIRO in Tassie). Happy to accept a donation if anyone feels inclined :-)
For the record, there are 4 species of the genus Branchiostegus known from WA, and you won't find any illustrated in a field guide! There is not even live-colour photos of some of them. The closest is the Pink Tilefish in Hutchins & Swainston book.
Yes Glenn you are 100% correct, just checked my records....Does the museum not have my fish which was caught in march last year? I claimed a state and national record with mine, yet to be updated on the records list, although was confirmed. I was of the understanding the fish went to the museum.. The record which I beat was a fish caught from Rottnest.

Not sure
The colouring looks like a Rosy Jobfish or a Goldband Snapper, but the tail is the wrong shape. Sorry.

Agree it looks colour wise like a Goldband, but the tail looks like a Tusk fish tail (which this fish isnt) and the head is not that of a goldband!
Obviously deep drop with the electric??
