Fish pics, tigerfish, nile perch and intro.

I have been lurking on this site for a while and thought it was about time to sign up and introduce myself. I'm from originally from Zimbabwe and my wife and I relocated to Perth about 4 years ago. We love it here and this site has helped a lot with learning how to fish In the sea. I now own a jetski which has proved to be a lot of fun and I also fish off it. My fishing history is mostly freshwater, tigerfish in the Zambezi river back home, but I have also enjoyed a trip to Egypt for nile perch as well as a stint in Mozambique. I look forward to contributing more to this forum in the future. In the meantime, here are a few pics.

Thanks guys,
Yes the second pic is a nile perch, caught by my mate with the cap on at Lake Nasser Egypt.

Uncle, tiger are awesome sport fish. They are extremely aggressive fish that really slam your lures. Quite a challenge too, Ive had days where Ive hooked more than 10 and only got one into the boat! Not to mention standing on the front deck while your boat drifts downstream through rapids as you cast lures and spinners.

So is that a common size nile perch or a good size or?  Can you tell us a bit more about them.  Look forward to your contributions on the site.

Adam

That's a good sized one. If I

Mon, 2013-08-19 17:23

That's a good sized one. If I remember right it went around 70kgs. We only got one that big out of 5 days fishing. We caught a lot of fish between 2kgs to around 10kgs. The next closest fish came in at around 40kgs.
We mostly trolled rapala super shad raps, they accounted for most of the fish including the big one. At times we trolled some very big lipped deep divers in deep water looking for monsters but it wasn't much fun holding onto a rod with 80lb braid dragging a huge lure.
Highlights were throwing super shad raps from shore and getting fish from 2 to 10kgs.
The super shad raps work well on the Zambezi for tiger too, ive found they don't get stuck on structure as much because of the bent lip on the front, they seem to just bounce off most stuff. Only problem is the tiger put a lot of holes in them!

 Hope those pics help.

I machined the feet out of plastic, drilled a hole through them and put a stainless bolt through.

What model do you have?, you might not need the feet.

Yes, that's sikaflex 291.

Tue, 2013-08-20 18:47

Yes, that's sikaflex 291. That stuff works well, even glued my transducer to the inside of my hull with it.
Ok so you probably will need feet.
I don't have access to a lathe anymore but if you do know a machinist its and easy job to turn up some feet out of some plastic offcuts. Otherwise maybe cruise around bunings and see what might work. Im sure I have seen rubber feet for furniture or something in there.
Im in Kwinana, if you want to stop by sometime and have a look at my whole setup you are welcome.

Hey, no worries mate I will have a look in bunnings for the feet. My father inlaw is handy with the tools so I will see how I go and then will post some pics.
