Fishermen missing off Leeman
Submitted by Browny on Fri, 2012-08-10 09:23
Heard on the radio that 3 fishermen are missing off Leman since yesterday.
Hope they're found safely!
(No doubt the excellent work by the sea rescue groups will come to the fore.)

Heard the live cross to the channel 7 chopper, as they hovered over the first guy waiting for the rescue boat to collect him, he was being circled by a hammerhead around 2.5 to 3 m. 2 found alive so far still looking for the 3rd guy
Fingers crossed they find him.

Sad to hear about one of the rescued men dying.
Shit, to have survived all that and then die AFTER getting rescued is bloody tragic.

Times like this reminds us
all that there is a fair degree of danger in fishing land based or boating. We must be always mindful of all issues that may come our way out there.
Condolences to his family and friends.

tragic
Didnt want to post anything earlier til we found out more, but we passed a bright yellow ally runabout with 3 blokes in fishing off Leeman yesterday lunchtime, was watching them in the binoculars and had the horrible feeling this morning that it was them.
But VSR tells me is was a black hull.

Yes, one dead, one safe, one
Yes, one dead, one safe, one missing. Just saw the report. One guy saved after 24 hours. Being in the dark by yourself for 12ish hours would be the worst feeling. Hope that the missing guy is found safe.

Sad!
Very sad to hear, would be one of the worst things to experience floating in the Ocean freezing cold for that long! I can only extend my thoughts and best wishes to the families of all involved.

Our department at work
Our department at work stopped at start of shift to hear the news, the fisherman who didnt make it was a top bloke. Had many friends on our crew and was a skilled worker for his age. Had the pleasure of working with him a few times. Was with him on a loader shut only last week. The news has shattered many guys up here, such a shame and a true tragedy.. RIP Bryce

Hope
Heart felt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of all involved, a terribly tragedy.
May the families take some small heart in knowing that they were doing what they loved.
Hopefully the missing man made it ashore last night, desolate coast up there and he could be in one of the coves.

Help needed to search for fisherman
I will be heading up to Leeman (from Busselton) to assist my mate Michael Coffey in the search for his missing brother.
They need as many people to search on foot.
If there is anyone who would like to make the journey up there to assist in the search please let me know asap. My mobile no is 0412271280.
Any help would be appreciated.
