The Causeway at Point Sampson

On a run out tide the ocean side is OK. Very snaggy so youl need a surface lure like a popper or stickbait (I like Tango dancers). Otherwise a lightly weighted plastic (white snapbacks seem to be the favourite at the causeway) and make sure it doesnt sink to far or your gone.

Other options but from shore pretty limited with a lure. However you can try any of the creeks.

Some others will help.

Sorry mate

Missed your reply. Queenies, small GT, mighty jacks and even the odd barra in the right time. Also cods and sods, and "skinny" up here even landed a monster bluebone on a mulie. I have no idea how he pulled it out of the rocks, but it was a whopper.

Cheers

any rocky point with some

any rocky point with some half deep water should hold small trevally and cod.  they will take any lure you can throw at them.

Squid will be around too, so be sure to have a few squid jigs with you.  I dont recommend the expensive ones up here, as you will lose a few to the trevally, queenies and cod.  Bloody hard to get the squid jig spikes out of a cods stomach

Head to the fuelling jetty

Tue, 2010-05-18 15:53

Head to the fuelling jetty in dampier, throw your lures around there, lots of species to be caught landbased in that general area, you'll have to drive in through hampton harbour boat and sailing club, but its worth a shot, fished there a lot as a young bloke. But as pale ale said any rocky point with some nice looking water, the burrup is great if you have a 4wd drive that can handle some rough ground

There might be more sails beyond Rosemary Island around the ships than around Sampson.

If you have a boat might be an idea to head that way aswell. Mackies especially around sampson.

Get some nice lizards and jacks

Wed, 2010-07-07 10:09

Around samson boat ramp also if cause way is quiet.

Not to many grey ghosts up at Balla yet still room at fresh water to camp

saw some traps there though reported to fisheries.

Balla is worth a try depending on tides.
