Exmouth 2010 chasings Bones photos
We kicked off our annual exmouth trip with a 72 cm bone on the fisrts day! Windy con ditions made it challenging but we found trevally and spangles on most of the stretches.
Milkfish are next on the list as fish to crack. found plenty of them but couldnt convert. Did foul hook one to watch it launch out of the water "awesome" only to shake the hook.
Trolled a little on the outside as we headed to other flats and nailed a decent wahoo and a few mackies.
At night we chased GTs of the beach which was a hoot! Loads of yellow fin bream, small blue salmon, spangle, trevally, cod, sharks and plenty of unstopables.
Best fish of the trip was caught by the Mrs. 76cm Bone! Hey at least im honest. Dam thing ate a whole mullet #$%^&*(!!!
Anyways great trip all round.

Exmouth
Heading up to Exmouth in october, will not be taking the boat. Mostly beach fishing. Staying at Yardie Creek. can you give any advice on what to take and what fish are available at that time of year?
Oh great pics, cant wait to fish the area.

Take the boat is my advice!!! Or borrow a dingy
Theres fish to be had off the beaches but you'll need to cover the ground (lots of walking)Beach fishing you'll pick up Dart, whiting, emperor, queenies and so on, Even mackies smash up schools of bait on the beach occasionally. I always have 2 rods rigged, light and a heavy.

72 is a great fish! I bet that wahoo was pretty tasty as well.
Your mate was pretty game to hold that GT like that though, the scutes are razor!
I did see a big milkfish lazily circling around Peak Island, I'm sure they go hard.

Im not sure who was more exhausted my mate or the GT, The fish
took some reviving but eventually swam away.
Was getting freaking frustrated with the milkfish, almost loaded the 'straight hook' to blast one!!

well there's a fish you don't see often on here.
Funny you say about the TT, the one and only bonefish I've hooked opened up a TT so now I use Cobras. I wonder TT worked better for you because they sit different on the bottom?
How did you go spotting the schools? I've tried a few times, thought I saw some but couldn't get any to eat.

Tim with the windy conditions-
we were spotting the bones pretty late so i think the tts were sinking faster. My main line is 8lb so im safe with the lighter gauge hooks but if you were pushing 20lb then you'd distort the "L/W" Light wire hooks pretty easily. The cobras are "H/W"
