Fishing in Margaret River
Submitted by NORUN NOFUN on Tue, 2012-09-11 09:55
Heading down to Maragaret River for 4 days from the 20th of this month.
Doing a family trip, and will have a few spare hours to wet a line.
I will not have my boat with me and will be land based.
What options do I have for wetting a line in the Margaret River area ? Coast ? Creek ? - would prefer to not travel more than 30mins, due to tight schedule - maybe just throw some SP's for a couple of hours in the morning/arvo.
Would appreciate any opinions !
Cheers

hey
Try early mornings/late arvo beachies/reefy areas etc for tailor atm. Weed is not usually an issue, although swell and wind is. Looking ok fro this weekend though. Light metals/waxwings etc are my preferred. Herring always around, although a lot quiter atm.
Be very carefull if fishing from rocks - people die here every year fishing from rocks not using anchors or being ill prepared.....

Thanks
Thanks for your help !
Judging by the amount of posts, not many people fish in the Marg's area.
An early morning/late arvo sess on tailor would be ideal.

Sharks.
Plenty of great whites hanging around Margs "Redgate Beach" at the moment so if there's one type of shark you can bet your life there'll be others. Apparently DEC buried a whale carcase at Smiths Beach and there is some claims that it is leaching into the water and you can't beat whale blubber as burly.
