Fishing this Saturday
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 2019-05-29 09:51
The boat still hasn't sold so the missus and I thought we might as well head out fishing Saturday. We will be kid free this weekend and this will be the first time we can head out early and have no time limit to being back. Hoping to get my better half onto a Dhu or just anything decent really. We normally just chase whiting so we are just a tad excited about venturing out a bit further than usual...
Anyone else heading out over the weekend?

Dampier billfish shootout
Dampier billfish shootout sat, sun, mon. Weather looks like it’s typical appalling Comp weather but I’ll be out for the small windows they do run it.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Have you heard about this one? Legendre weather station is down so official call is made from airport wind meter. Port was calling securitae 28-35 knots but airport was showing 14 so keep fishing...
Only postponed fishing once a boat was swamped and sar activated.
Sitting on the couch watching the palms touching the ground waiting for a decision at 10am as to whether we start fishing at 12.

Far out, definitely a good move made a few years ago to suspend fishing, have had a few hairy moments out past the ships thats for sure, especially on the tide change.

Yep. It’s posponed today with hourly updates till 2pm. If it’s still blowing over 24 knots at 2pm we won’t be going out today.

Yup, fished yesterday...bloody hard work
Stronger NE than forecast and hate that direction for fishing, add to that a very strong north to south current and the drift was just off south. Few fish early but bite quickly shut down. Was surprised at how few boats were on the water but those that were moved around a lot. One good snapper from the 40’s .....glassed off at 12.30 making drifting impossible as current also eased. Headed in a 25 knots and could easily have gone quicker but sat on 1nm to the litre
