fishwrecked slow refreshing?????

Just wondering whether anyone else has been experiencing issues with the site today, its ben taking me ages to view things and refresh to view the latest content, not having any troubles with any other site, so that takes away my server issues.

started last night and all day today so not sure, anyone else having the same issues?

Big Pond Cable Matt

Mon, 2008-06-30 08:00

I used to work for Telstra in Big Pond Direct (Static IP), which used to get confused with Big Pond - which it wasn't - anyway, we used to get a LOT of calls and issue notices re ADSL via Foxtel cable infastructure.

You mention you had a server as oppossed to a system unit (discrete tower) - so you have a LAN set up?

Have you tried different browsers? Have you tried setting Firefox up to multi stream?

Exchange Matt - Browser config?

Mon, 2008-06-30 08:08

Yeah - possible, but that would cause pipe strangulation across your whole internet experience where content was volatile - in the case of the Point of Present (your exchange or POP) with ADSL, it's usually the CMUX to LI interface at the POP.

As I mentioned - do you use FF and if so, have you just left the standard streaming config?

OK Matt - ring?

Mon, 2008-06-30 08:19

Maybe there is a content/IP load threshold upstream? Have you phoned BP? (hope they have more technical people than when I worked for Telstra!).

nah not as yet, if it was all sites that i go to i would understand it being a BP issue but in all honesty the only site i am having issues with is this site, so makes it hard to understand why, and seems like im not the only person its happening too.

Not necessarily Matt

Mon, 2008-06-30 08:28

Can be a number of issues - depends on how this site is handled through the BP Cable network - geek stuff like Domain Name Server (DNS) handling etc etc etc relative to your POP and IP address (which I assume is dynamic (via DHCP addresssing) as oppossed to static? Still might be worth a call. As for other sites being fine - this site's content is verry volotile (lot's of changing content) - so that, combined with BPC issues for your POP and IP range may be combining in a bad way.

WHOOOOSH

Mon, 2008-06-30 15:07

That just went over my head Tongue outTongue outTongue out.

I'm using Vista Ultimate on Westnet ADSL and pooter is 3 GZ e8400 Money mouth so there is no slow points there (unless there is something here I can't see) it seemed to of happened to me only in the last few weeks tho, I also run adaware, spybot and AVG version 8 all the time to get rid of all the gremlins, it also goes slow on my sons computer as well and he's running off my wireless modem on an XP machine , my computer is wired up to the modem.

I think I might have to go to a firefox or something to see if that changes it , but I can load from all over Aust and the world even with no problem .
