Flooded sharkshield

Have many people been having problems with there sharkshields ( mainly 7)

I have a 18 month old shark shield that has water ingress and is stuffed after about 20 dives. Obviously its out of warranty but just feel its pretty poor from something that is not user serviceable!

Anyone else had any problems?

Cheers

Vinnie

I phoned and left a msg a few months back as mine is a prick to turn on / off, my knob looks bent but still working..no reply so might be best to walk in if you haven't spoken to them.

Mate just picked up new unit, took 3 weeks due to back log and demand atm...there selling for $300 now at some joinrs due to Government contribution i think.

im on my 3rd shark shield in 4 years.

scaubanatics in rocko do exchange units at a fraction of the cost, not sure if they still do.

Yes, I bought one from gumtree last year tghat turned up but wasn't working. I found their customer service and product support to be very much lacking. The bloke I bought it off did the right thing and refunded me. I have a working unit now that I also got second hand and it is working well. I hope it continues...

sharkshield

on my freedom 7 I had the whip tail snap at the point of connection on the rubber after a couple of dives, it snapped at home when I was washing it. Appears it was unusual for this to happen

the shop I got it from (PDA) sent it straight back to the manufacturer and it was fixed promptly

In your initial post you haven't stated, will the dive shop or manufacturer not repair?

Was told by the LDS that it is out of warranty and they send it back for the refurbished model for $350. And it def is out of warranty no arguments there.

My main problem with Sharkshield at the moment is because of the rebate the units are so hard to get!

I am still waiting on a reply from Sharkshield, was really just wondering if many other people have had this problem !

Freedom

Tue, 2017-12-12 21:50

I’ve been had 3 Freedoms. First was worn out then myself and two friends bought the Freedom 7 when they came out. All three ended  up leaking somewhere between 12 months and 18 months. I contacted them to complain as mine was only just out of warranty and after much discussion they gave me a refurbished unit along with notice that this would be the last replacement. Shame it was a bad experience after paying a lot for it.

Lucky you got one i guess but not great from a unit made to go in the water. Failed so early. If they can make my dive torch go 500 dives with no issue how hard can it be for this to be water tight!
