Fool's Barra
Submitted by Geoff78 on Wed, 2013-03-13 10:18
I had never seen or heard of the fool's barra in 20-odd years of fishing perth metro. Then I read a thread on this forum identifying a picture of a fish as a "fool's barra". I kid you not, two days later, I was fishing at a location I have fished 30-40 times and the first fish I pull in a Fool's Barra. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, can someone please help me with the species proper name?

Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Yes I was caught by this
The late "skinny" (Ian Smith) and a few others was fishing on the Point Sampson causeway when I caught a "Barra". They all laughed and stirred me up and said it was a Sand bass. For a Barra it was legal and I was dying for a feed off a fresh one. Being a newby at that time to the Pilbarra I returned it to live another day, Just to be followed with more laughter as it was a bloody barra. Never do that mistake again!!!
