Hi all,
Working on the goldfields gas line at the moment, and staying at the Fortescue road house.
We have a RDO on Sunday and was looking for some info from anyone who has fished here or at the river mouth.
shore base only.... left the boat at home :(
Thanks Pete

salmon
Mate, in July the Fortescue mouth to a couple ok Ks downstream will be blue salmon city.
just take a couple of rods or handlines with mulies on a gang(or better live mullet if you have a thrpw net).
Incoming tide best, walk along the bank and try to stay in the vicinity of the area where the discoulored water meets the incoming clean water.
Use fairly heavy gear as a big thready is a real chance as well as mulloway and small bull sharks.
Throw a couple of crabnets in as well, the place is usually loaded with them.

Steel caps
Wear your steel cap boots to give you some extra weight to prevent the sand flies carrying you off.

yeah
Yeah, not sure if you are familiar with northern creeks but make sure you have clothes that cover everything, especially at night.
Also time your trip a few hrs either side of low tide for the best fishing
lures are an option too if the catfish start driving you mad on bait.
You will have a nice time anyway, light a fire, have a couple of coldys and kick back, good luck

Thanks guys, Yer know about
Thanks guys, Yer know about the sand flies, have spent a fair bit of time up north.
Just using 15 & 20lb gear and lures and beer. fishing day light hours.
Its more of a fishing day than a catching day, but a nice treadfin would not look to bad on the BBQ for lunch.
Thanks again for your input.
Pete
