After a failed attempt to head out Deep with JohnF on Thursday (Engines issues on my Fury) i hooked up with a mate who just happens to be a pro cray fisherman for a morning trip out in reasonably close chasing some demersals and hopefully some KG's.

Hit up a spot not too far out whilst the wind was just enough to be annoying from the east. 2 of us jigging whilst old mate crayfisherman was skippering! (holding the boat on top of the ground).

First drop we were just off due to the wind, but 2nd drop i got hit on the way down just off the bottom. Was using a 130g Dhu drop and loaded up heavy on my little PE 1.2 Ocea jigger. After about 10 minutes up popped this big boy, no scales on board but measured 96cm so put it around 14kg or so. not bad consdering is was barely light! My biggest on jig to date

Next drop had us with our 2nd dhu of about 5kg so time to move on as we had our limit of dhus. We moved not very far to the inside of a little bit of coral and dropped down some droppers for KG's. Instant success with me hooking an assumed double header (Could see them coming up on the sounder) to lose one half way up. Up popped a nice 51cm KG! you beauty!!

Moved around a bit more and changed back to jigs. Next spot i got hit, nothing too massive so took it slow and to my surpirse up popped this guy on jig!! went 53cm!

Ended up with 2 big KG's on jig which was a first for me.

Moved on again to the next bit of coral where we changed back to droppers with occy for KG's. Something tells me the Dhu stocks are good on this bit of coral!!

Needless to say we moved on straight away, all 3 of these swam off strong as they were bought up super slow.

Ended the day with 4 KG's (2 on jig) 2 dhu's and plenty of other bi catch of small pinks, rat sambos, and other bits and pieces! back to the ramp by lunch!
