Fuel Issue?

 Hi Guys.

As i was installing a new bait board yesterday i saw this "stuff" sitting in the bottom of my fuel filter. Never seen it before so im a little worried.

Any suggestions on what it could be and how to rectify would be greatly appreciated. Its a bit hard to see but its the thicker stuff sitting at the bottom.

Water

Might be too obvious but I'd guess that it is just water that the 'separator' has actually separated??

just drain via the plug at the bottom?

I did think it was water, but looked a little thick.

How do people go about stopping this in the future?

It might just be that it

It might just be that it seems thick in comparison to the considerably thinner petrol sitting on top of it.

My vote's for water as well.

My vote's for water as well. I was suprised when I first saw water how it didn't really look like how I expected it to look. Definitely drain via the plug at the bottom, but you might find it a bit hard to get it all out. As long as you get most of it out, and it stays down the bottom, no real issue.

 Keeping your fuel tank full

Keeping your fuel tank full will help to reduce the amount of water gathering in your tank.

Less space for any condensation to form which is probably one of the most common reasons water finds it's way into your fuel.

Also just check the seal around the fuel cap.

Like comrad said...compaired to the fuel water does look a little thick when sitting at the bottom of the seperator.
