fuel sensor not reading

Hello just wondering if someone could maybe help me, just recently i noticed my yamaha fuel gauge was reading empty when i know i got half a tank still available. I thought maybe my float was stuck but after removing it and cleaning the sensors im still not able to get a reading.
Any info on this would be great.

does it read anything when the tank is full ?
did you try opperating it manually when the sender unit was out of the tank ?
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

is you yamaha gauge have a tank sender ( resistive sendor ) or do you put in the amount of fuel that the tank holds and when you re fill and it reads how much the enginne is using to give you a level in tank picture meaning there is no tender sender unit

Cheers for your help fellas. My float was buggered, ended up buying a wema sender and shes working all good now.
