Furuno 295

I have been advised by a few people of late not too install a Furuno 587 with a 1kw transducer but look to installing a Furuno 295. With what research I've been able to do it seems the 295 is more commercial focused and not suitable for trailer sized vessels, so stated in other reports. My boat is a Bar Crusher 780HT. Last comment I received was the transducer for the 295 was a monster dimensionally and could be difficult to fit. Comment would be appreciated.

on a 295 its just that the 295 has better bottom discrimination and a few more functions than a 587 and can use upto a 3 kw transducer . i have had both and a 295 shits on the 585/587 .here is a bit of a list a transducer that will fitt just find the size and beam widths you want on the airmar website

I run a 295 in my barcrusher 560 with two separate transducers on brackets, 2 kw high frequency and 3 kw low frequency, the 2 kw is awesome and works really well but the 3 needs a calm day as boat is a bit small and gets a bit of disturbance from the motion for the deep water, better suited for thru hull transducer, imported it from the states and saved a few bucks

Have you got any pictures of ya 295 on the crusher? My 730HT is on the way and im still trying to decide what im doing to find fish. Have been looking at the 295, (got a HDS10gen2 for maps) but got nothing short of confused as shit when looking into the transducers. I first thought ya needed a "module" to run 1kw and up (like you do with simrad) now i got the undersatnding that you can plug up to 3kw directly into them, but only a High or low frequency, not a duel one? Then i started looking at CHIRP and all went to the dogs....

Im guessing ya got a transducer either side of the transom to fit both the big buggers in?
