Furuno 587 and TM258 1kw

Furuno 585 and TM258 1kw. Anyone here running this set up. I am having problems with the sounder dropping out on 200mhz at about 150mtrs and the 50mhz hard to read any deaper then 250mtrs. I have played with all the settings and still no good.

Any ideas on what the settings should be to find fish in 300 plus meters or am I asking to much. I know the TM258 is the entry level 1KW but before I go out and spend $1200 on a TM260 maybe there is some settings I am not aware of. In 280mtrs sounding rubies I can only run the gain on about 3.0 at 50mhz otherwise I am getting to much clutter and interference doing about 3-4knts. Once stopped I can punch the gain up and see the fish but anything over 300 meters nothing I do seems to bring up the bottom. I have heard running a 15 deg wedge to angle the transducer may help any other sugestions.

I used to run a Furuno 585 and TM260 transducer and had no problems running out to 250 meters on 200mhz and 500 meters on 50. Even with the 600 watt transducer I could get better readings and still hit the bottom at 400 meters.

Thanks

increase the tvg as you increase depth.

Over 200m tvg to high. Give that a crack
