I was just wondering if anyone on this site has fished Gamex in resent years.

I was wondering
What was the weather like?The last one i did was 2004 .I did the 7 before that in the windex days .Might do next year or 2010.How did you go ?We won 2004 champion boat but it was hard work.I think i may fish it for the fun & social side next time.I say that now but when you get there the rush of blood to the head tells you different you go all crazy & want to beat everyone.

Your right ,
the boats that take out Champion Trophies fish bloody hard and I don't believe luck plays a very big role , skilled anglers that start out with a solid game plan and stick too it do well . The weather hasn't been bad , last year would be the worst weather for the last 4 for the small boats with only 2 reasonable days and the rest uncomfortable at best to unfishable , 2005 I think was glass up until the last day and Bills everywhere , that's fishing I guess .
Very hard not to let the blood rush to the head and go hammer and tong . We are getting more fish every year last year was 2 sails and a black but the fish weren't thick , I think the cyclone a week or so before had a bit of an impact I believe.

Alot of good crew up that way
Smithy ,Des & Cathy Ryan ,Ned Kelly ,Matty(Family) Denver & Snooky the list goes on .I spoke to Jan yesterday i will see how i go i may come up next year and fish it with them and take my boat up the following year.Do you fish the mackie island comp too that is good fun?

I haven't yet
but we are planning a Mackie Islands trip for some time in March /April , few of us from Tom Price are going over , just have to sort out the boats were going to take.

with Deegs , but it looks like he is off to the Territory for work so I think I'm jumping onto C-Wirthy just depends on crew numbers and what happens with Deegsy's job app . Still a bit up in the air , one way or another I'll be there , you can count on that

I fished it in a 455 poly
With the bro in law and a mate we had a great time .40 horse tiller steer did 530 ish nm got some great fish.Might see you up there i will pm if i am going.What dates is it next year?
