Genuine yamaha parts vs aftermarket parts
Hey guys.. had an alarm go off yesterday on the way out... ended up being "low battery voltage" alarm so I've replaced battery with a spanka... still shit... tested regulator rectifier by swapping it out with a spare... still shit... pulled off charging leads and being a 3 phase alternator/stator checked the outputs of the 3 circuits and it seems one of the circuits has shit itself... so I'm now looking for a replacement stator... SO I found an aftermarket one on ebay for around $100 but further digging revealed that for a genuine yamaha stator they want $962.67!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wtf!!!
So I guess what I'm really wondering now has anyone;
Had experience with fixing yammys with aftermarket parts and what was the outcome?
Got any idea how/why they charge so much and is it worth taking a fist 10 times the size right up the clacca?
It just seems to me like a no brainer in this situation as if this part fails it won't cause anything else to fail(or will it?)... but I really don't bloody know so here I am.
Cheers in advance for any help at all! Yew

I replaced a start relay on
I replaced a start relay on one of my f150's. Was $150 or so for genuine but I picked one up for $14 off Amazon. Has 200 hours on it so I'm happy with the saving.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

I have used a few after
I have used a few after market parts on my F115. Some of them have been $1000 difference between after market and genuine. After doing a bit of research, the after market and genuine parts came from the same manufacture. I couldn't justify paying that price after coming across that info. I haven't had any problems with the parts and would use them again. Feel free to PM me if you more info

Cheers guys
Awesome... all I need to hear. Just ordered an aftermarket part after contacting yamaha and asked why they charge ten times as much for no answer! Even asked where the part was made and they couldn't even tell me! Poor form imo
