Squid, crabs
Geraldton has a lot of squid caught over the weed beds around pages beach and wimps over the winter months, crabs are often caught in the new marina and after the greenough river has opened but they don't taste the same as the crabs down south. I think it must have something to do with the warmer water.
You will love Gero the fishing both from the shore and boat are great most of the year round and most locals are keen to give you some info to get started.

We went and lobbed crab nets
We went and lobbed crab nets into the greenough from the shore up stream. Water was shallow, green and heaps of algae but the crabs were clean. Not a whole lot of sized ones though took about 3 hours to get 5 and they were just over.
Dropped nets in the bay at southgates once for zip.
Dropped nets at kalbarri once for two tiny females and a small munted muddy.
