Gero accomodation
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2018-06-05 10:50
G'day all,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere to stay in Gero with a boat in tow. Thinking of my return journey from Gnarloo, I don't want to do it in one hit as I'll have my boy's with me and oldest has only had his licence a short time and don't want to lumber him with night time driving with the boat etc. Thought Gero is a good midway stop and that gives us the luxury of leaving Gnaraloo mid morning. Cheers Andy

I will be home til the 10th barring unforeseen circumstances, plenty of room for parking/sleeping, about a km from 440

African Reef.
Hi Andy, we stay at the African Reef when we do our yearly Shark Bay Trip.
It is just off the highway south of the big intersection north.
A few kinds of rooms & a place to park the boat trailer, reasonable rates & they do a basic brekky
Good luck.
cheers Rob

Farmstay
Look at northbrook farmstay. 6 ks north of Northampton.
They do all sorts of accomodation from tent sites to cabins.
We usually stay in a self contained house and Fong it good value.
im not sure on cost (can't be arsed looking for a receipt) but they have a website.
If you don't want the pubs etc in gero then a good option.

Time for Andy to introduce the Streeter boys to their first skimpy barmaid.

We stayed at diamond cove caravan park
It certainly isn’t 5 Star, but it’s easily accessible with a boat, has plenty of beds in the units, and doesn’t cost and arm and a leg. It’s about 2 klms up the road from the gull 440 servo

Drummond Cove Holiday Park
This is where I stay on my return from Shelter Bay with a 7.5m boat in tow. They have nice cabins and you can park the boat next to them. It’s around 2kms north of the 440. Awesome views of the ocean as well.

Hey Andy
Sorry to hear about the prang, trust everyone is OK. Will you be replacing it with another Ranger ?
Last time we travelled back from Coral Bay we stayed in the transportable rooms at the Billabong they are new and very comfortable albeit small. Have their own showers and toilets as well. Cost I think was $75 per room and they have a pub and good meals there. Plenty of boat parking. That will be my choice of stopover from now on, makes for an easy trip with a cheap overnighter.
cheers

Thanks Bruce, that's another good option. It's being assessed today so see what they come up with, there are specials on at the moment with The XLT's so might go that road.

Been wondering the same Andy....
An overnighter at Billabong sounds like a good way to knock off of a chunk of the drive to Coral Bay for us at the end of July too.

Just make sure you use the billabong homestead not the roadhouse accommodation. The Homestead next to roadhouse is much better.

We stay there as it is half way to Exy. Also when we do Steep Point, great place to get going from early in the morning after a good brekky to get to the point at a handy time. Also it has great pub dinner meals, big serve at a good price.
Cheers & Stay safe

Northbrook farmstay
just north of Northampton has plenty of donga rooms and a large grassed area for parking boats etc. Good affordable rooms and Chad and his wife that own it are very nice people.
