Getting rego stickers off boats

I'm going to replace the rego numbers on the side of the boat but it looks like there will be a fair bit of sticky gunk left over once they come off.  Anyone done this before and if so what did you use to get it off?

I assume some of that Orange Power gear or turps will probably work but when I used some on my car a few years ago I found it took off a small amount of paint so I'm a bit paranoid about using it now.

Also I'm thinking about getting a single sticker made up that has all five characters on it instead of using five individual stickers. Has anyone tried this?

Thats what we all did with the decals on the Rally Aus support vehicles in the past, and we stickered stacks off them.

There is a substance called Zoff (pronounced Z-off) that is used to get medical glues off and it is absolutely awesome, but not so easy to find.

Then use Solve-it (orange based solvent) to get rid of any glue residue.
