Glass bottom boat

Got a question to those who have installed a "glass bottom veiwing panel" in the hull of their fibreglass boats. I have spoken to someone who has the same boat as me, a Fraser 5.25 and they told me that they had stuck a bullet proof piece of perspex in his past boats which made it a dream for diving and I was thinking of doing the same at some stage. Just wondering who has done it, how much it has cost, have there been any structural problems and where it can be done?
Cheers,
Ken

I have an 85, 5meter Durban with a 300mm square panel, the kids love it.You get the odd gasp when  crossing a shallow reef, as things look closer than they are and it seems you just cleared it. There have been no structual problems with it. I suspect it may cut a few knots of the top speed due to drag. When it fills with water, a sponge is the easiest way to bail it out, I should make a cover for it. There is a raised edge to keep water from draining in.  think carefully where you put it, as when fishing, to stub your toe on the raised edge won't hurt till the excitement is over, the the salt water will make you aware of any missing skin..

pm me if you wanta look, as it is in Kardinia at the moment.
