For those heading up to Gnaraloo, if you switch to channel 81 VHF you can stay in contact with Carnarvon sea rescue. There is a repeater situated on Rio Tinto's aerial on Cape Cuvier provides the coverage. We have radios set on this frequency and are monitored from approx. 0800 till 2000 every day from either of the 2 home bases or down at our building.
Sometimes you cannot access it from in at the moorings in the bay but once outside there are no problems

Full coverage
Its a repeater channel and you can talk through to Carnarvon or boat to boat. It is only fair on other users to use another channel if you are not too far apart.
As for signal strength call , no problem, same goes for any emergency.
Our 10 metre Naiad has the range to cover that area if needed
