Gnaraloo round trip

Did a run up to Gnaraloo from Carnarvon nd back today to mark all the spots where people have made a habit of falling in while rock fishing and to plot the way in to Gnaraloo bay in case we have the need to come in there in an emergency situation. This allows us to go straight to a spot even though some of us have never been there by sea before without the need to search for its location.

Took a few snaps on the way, the usual Cape Cuvier, The Caves, Red Bluff from the south and the bluff before it and a few from near the beach in Gnaraloo bay. Meant to get some of Whistling and High Rock but the sun was wrong and we forgot on the return trip

Total time was 7 hours to cover approx. 150nm and an about 450 litres of fuel. Wind was next to bugger all and swell 2-3 metres, something to give the surfers at Red Bluff and the 3 mile camp some fun.

Forgot to add that we were also seeing how far the coverage is on the new VHF repeater channel 81 on Cape Cuvier. We were able to speak to our base in Carnarvon from about a mile outside of Gnaraloo bay. We will be informing the station and 3 Mile camp of its range and if they can inform boaters of its existence.

Beach

There is always the beach to fall back on if the boat is out of action. Word has it that there are plenty of threadfin to be caught by flicking a lure about round the river mouth

Going out to chase a feed of scabs and while the nets are in will flick a lure round tomorrow.

Just got to hope the tigers are not in drop net pinching mood like they have been recently
