If your taking a boat then
If your taking a boat then double up on all the nuts & check & re-check to make sure nothing is likely to fall off, the track up there can destroy a good trailor.
be safe & enjoy cheers

Weather
How big is your boat? The launch from Gnaraloo bay is fairly straightforward as the sand is quite hard. You need to check the sanctuary zones but more important keep your eye on the swell. The swell looks like it will peak at around 3 meters on Tuesday and at that height you need to go quite a long way north before you try and get out of the bay. Wait and watch for a while. If its breaking across the bay don't risk it.
I will be at the 3 mile camp just south of Gnaraloo from Tuesday onwards. Please drop in for a pale ale if the fishing is slow!
The gods do not deduct from mans allotted span the hours spent in fishing

Hope the wind gods are on
Hope the wind gods are on your side leon. Make sure you troll as you leave the bay, I picked up a Marlin there that was over a 100kg easy. Look for the flat coral for Reds. We have caught all our fish in the 40m are you don't need to go into the 100's but if you're after the Robo's you probably do. Have fun.

Nah you'll be right mate. How long are you going for? You should score a few days and that's all you'll need.

Hi Leonsp
You will love the place. Do a search on the site and you will find a lot of information. I have posted a fair bit about Gnaraloo over the years.
Watch out for the marine park if you plan to fish inside the reef. Take full advantage of the metal grates for retrieving. You will find plenty of Spangled Emp as pricey has said when anchored along the reef. Do you have navionics? If so, you will be able to mark some places to check out. It is also worth sounding around between 20 and 40 metres. You do not need to travel very far. Trolling is also very good. There is normally good schools of tuna and plenty of Mackies to keep you interested. It is also worth a troll out in the 40's as well as behind the reef. I find the Shark Mackies are in close and the Spanish a bit further out, even in the 60's.
We are up ther again in July and can't wait. Take it easy on the track, and have a great trip. It is a beautiful place. Feel free to call me on 0403978583 for any further info.

Thanks Dave
Always great when people take time to give some friendly advice.
Hopefully we get some calm days so we can go out a little wider and land some big reds. Not to disimilar from the one you are holding. I hear they are a little deeper?

Yep same here tot. The one
Yep same here tot. The one in my avatar was about the same distance from shore. We hit a school of them and that one was the biggest just over 12kg and nigh on straightened out the Gamkatsu I was using. That fish never gave up and was one of the best fights on heavy gear I've ever had. Caught on half a Lizard fish.

We were using Squid but
We were using Squid but would raid the filleting truck every night for Mackie skins and any decent offcut slabs for bait. The Mackie skins wouldn have about 10mm of flesh on and is execellent bait for bottom bouncing.
