Gnarloo pics (pic heavy)
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2016-07-12 18:38
So as promised a few pics of the trip. Only really had two good days of weather but managed to do very well on those days. The boys were red hot with the jigs and plastics and literally smashed all my stock. Found a couple of new spots up there with massive flares and they produced our only Reds of the trip but also big Rankins. The boys were absolutely stoked with the place and what it has to offer and feel spoiled now thinking of the local fishing ahead of them until next year.

Hi mate
Pleasure to be up there with you mate. Two good days that really put it on was all we needed. The cobia were insane this year, so many around. See you next year.
So many options up there to explore.

Top work Andy (and the young fellas). How did they go with the banter of a boys fishing trip? Would have loved it I bet.

Rankins?
How did you go with the nemotodes? / black flecks in the rankin flesh this year.
We get some in rankins at coral bay , some years its worse than others, never hurt us
as mentioned on here many times before , if theres a real bunch of it we just cut it out.
Rankins never really seem to photograph that well , 2 secounds straight out of the water , and beyound that
they seem to lose colour and SIZE! HAHA .

Definitely mate, we had some
Definitely mate, we had some real hard chops to punch through and would've been good to have had some back up. There was about an 8m boat that broke down twice out there, once with water pump problems and then the next day electrical. Luckily Dave escorted them the first time in pretty average conditions.

Yeah great thanks Andy. Kids had a ball skiing at Cardrona and mucking around on my uncles farm. Was funny watching them spin out at seeing water troughs with nearly an inch of ice covering them.

Some great catches.
Looks like you boys had a fantastic trip.
We where up at DHI few weeks ago and the fish where not biting at all.
All we caught was snapper & Spaniards in the last few hours before we packed the camp.
Anyway thanks for sharing the photos.
Cheers
