Good day Out - Ktown

Sorry fellas, the camera had flat batts yesterday which is a shame as there were some good photos to be had (pics are from phone cam).  Basically, headed wide to a mark we had been given which we didn't plot until we got out there, only to find it was in one of the most obvious spots you'd ever seen.  Heading back to our original planned spot we found a boat right on it (middle of nowhere - talk about not happy)  Anyway ended up looking around and finding some new ground.  Must say I have never caught so many undersize reds in my life, think we boated about 35, maybe more - not the mention atleast a dozen undersize trout and rankins each.  Certainly was a day for the small fry, but we managed to get a feed of tasties (not huge but good enough)

Cheers,

Adam

Didnt see one, had 2 wahoo follow up a little rankin.  Apart from that none and we would have brought up well over 100 fish total for the day.

Sometime quantity makes up for lack off bruisers. I wouldnt complain about that feed.

I suspect the spot not plotted was Bare Rock Area, or did you head north. Just working it out from where you got the Nice queenie. Could have been a different day.

Likewise seen heaps of Juvy reds and trout. Hopefully sign of things to come.

But like Pale Ale very surprised you didnt get sharked or seen them. Must be a "virgin" spot so keep it close to the chest. Sharks havent found it yet.

Love the Rankins.

Just made me think. There isnt a size limit for Rankin's other than the freak rankin off >1m or 30kg. And this Rankin I WOULD like to see. (Am I correct??). Had a small fillet at a mates that was so mega tasty and it was from a small fish. Tasted better than Standard Ranking.

Yep

Yep, tomato cod.  As for rankin's, you wont see one over 30kg and you'd be bloody lucky to see one over 1m.  Otherwise they're likely to be potato cods, malabar groupers, estuary cods or flowery cod which all look a little similar.

As for where all the fish came from, it was actually a spot we named 'trevally alley' cause that was all we caught there the first time, guess we were wrong eh. lol.

Dont you use a paternoster

Dont you use a paternoster rig with snapper leads.  Can I ask how this rig goes in deep water.  Seems to be going great
