Nice

I was thinking "high stick" just before the shatter. Done it myself so dont feel lonely, but have learned with graphite. Nice mackies I think Beeroclock.

Did you manage to short stick that fish in at the end. Managed to get a 10kg GT in on a short stick 8wt fly rod that couldnt cope with the size off the trevor, but just had to see what caused my fly rod to vaporize!

That was Jason doing the high

Thu, 2015-05-14 11:55

That was Jason doing the high sticking (No 1 reason why I never lend my graphite rods out)- feel sorry for him that was about the 5th time he got sharked I think he was getting a bit sick of it (he pulled higher each shark) - I had a high speed spin reel from the bottom bashing and was a bit quicker getting them up away from the bities and only got sharked once - got most of the sharks (including the snapped rod one) to the boat before cutting them free - all 8-9ft sleepy (lemon?) sharks.

Yes mostly schools of longtail tuna with the odd Mackie tuna thrown in. also got a small GT or brassy and a tealeaf Trev out of the tuna schools, great fun on 8kg spin gear.

Yes unfortunately on this day it was forecast to blow up - so I left the new fly rod home at the last minute (and thus assured perfect weather).  Would have been a perfect day to christen the new fly rod/reel. oh well that's how it crumbles and will be another time and had a ball anyway
