GPS/ sounder or two units

Hi guys, just want people's opinions on whether it is worth running a separate sounder and GPS or just stick with one unit. Currently have a hds 5 combo. Have the option of getting another hds 5 sounder only. What's your thoughts? Run two separate units or save my money. Cheers for your input in advance

cheers Rosco

2 units

I have 2 hds units linked, what this means is you scroll the cursor across your sounder and press enter, this puts the mark straight into your gps (the other unit) This feature is worth its weight in gold as you can scroll back and do this too.  It also means you can trun a combonation of split screens from either device on both units but I keep it simple one is my gps chart the other is my sounder.

If you need any help on connection let me know as you need the ethernet cable plus connect the two other cables in a sequence that wasnt readily available when I did mine in about 2009, it might be common knowledge now

There is also the addded reliability that if something basic breaks on your sounder/gps you can use the other unit to view the info that one is processing but cant display

I run two units find it much

I run two units find it much easier. Old man has combo unit only in his tub, it's more complicated try to do two things at once ie sounding and marking spots at same time. Also despite my screens being smaller it's still better view than haveing split screen. After useing both options il be sticking to two units when/if I ever upgrade my boat.
