Great day on the water yesterday

Hit the water yesterday north of Mindarie. Trying out the new SS264 transducers that I recently had fitted for my HDS8 by site sponsor Hayway Marine.

On the water at Gentlemens hours of 7.30 and headed out to a couple of areas that we had previously fished. The new transducers worked a treat marking what we believe to be fish at 26 knots in 42m. A couple of drops and quick drifts and the fish started to come on board. First a big Sargent Baker, bait. Second a small (sized) pinky, released. Third a 2.5kg baldy and a stonker black arse. Next drop 3kg pinky and another bigger baldy. Next drop, whammo, 14kg dhu and his slightly smaller mate at 11kgs - all bagged out by 10.30.

Tried to get another dhu for my boy (to be released of course) so he would have some bragging rights and right on cue another big dhuy hit. Got him nearly to the top when he powered back down stripping line off the TLD then bang .  . . . all gone, pulled up the line, looks like a reasonable shark snaffled the lot ! Tried for a bit longer but they had gone off so headed in for an early day and a couple of coldies.

Great day on the water with my boy and a mate and great to get back into the fish !

cheers

Well done on your catch Cruise control

Out of curiosity is your boat a cruise craft? Reason I ask is that I have one too and there aren't many in WA!

yeah, Spitfire. Outsider 685 - I think you would be surprised as to how many Cruise Craft are in WA - but they are a Queensland boat so not as many as local builds obviously.

cheers

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
